Advanced Open Water Diver

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

They’re what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Scubaland Adventures is all about. And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course. The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your Scubaland PADI instructor. This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.

You’ll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy
  • Underwater Navigation
  • Night
  • Deep
  • Search & Recovery or Wreck


Class meets at 1pm at one of our 3 stores (noon Oct-Apr).  You’ll review your five knowledge reviews and then head out diving!  You’ll do the peak performance buoyancy, UW navigation and night dives the first day at Windy Point, Lake Travis or Spring Lake.  Then Sunday from 1pm-5pm (10am-2pm Oct-Apr) you’ll do the deep and search & recovery dives at Lake Travis!

Prerequisites

To take this course, you must be:

  • A PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

What You Learn

The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all the basic scuba gear including your underwater compass. A variety of adventure dives allow you try out underwater photography equipment, DPVs (underwater scooters), a dive light, a dry suit, lift bags, a dive flag/float or other specialty gear.

The Learning Materials You Need

advanced underwater diver crew pak PADI’s Adventures in Diving Manual provides information on more than 16 types of specialty diving.You’ll use it as a guidebook to improve your diving skills and prepare for new experiences and adventures.
