My SCUBA adventure began on a family vacation to Cozumel in 2010. The only academic award I ever received was for my participation in two consecutive summer marine biology courses in high school, which included weeklong trips to Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands for hands-on underwater research and fun. I returned for my divemaster training with Dive BVI the summer before my freshman year at Texas A&M. While leading a campus tour my sophomore year, I mentioned my intent to find a summer job as a divemaster, and some visitors from Hawaii invited me to stay in their guest bedroom. Following the easiest "yes" of my life, I completed my PADI Instructor training in 2016 with Aaron's Dive Shop in Kailua, Hawaii.
SCUBA love has taken me to dozens of top diving destinations across the world. Highlights include Bonaire in the Dutch Antilles, the British Virgin Islands, Tulum & Cozumel in Mexico, Belize, Channel Island National Park in Southern California, Bali, Tioman Island in Malaysia, the Honduran Bay Islands of Utila and Roatan, Costa Rica's Pacific coast, Cuba, Koh Tao island in Thailand... Ask me my favorite at your own risk!
In 2012 I had the opportunity to dive in the Florida Keys as part of my adventure with the Boy Scouts of America (now Scouting USA) Florida Sea Base high adventure camp. As an Eagle Scout from Dallas' Troop 577 and a certified Assistant Scoutmaster, I am available to support Austin area Scout troops interested in the SCUBA Diving Merit badge.
I cherish the "wow!" moment when it clicks for new divers - we're breathing underwater! SCUBA diving is fun! This is so cool! It's a true privilege to teach others how to be safe, smart divers, and to share in the love for our underwater world. Let's get wet!
