Purchase Full Face Masks

  • Communications Base Station for Surface Support
  • Full Face Diving Masks

What exactly is a Full Face Mask? Well, the simple answer is it is a diving mask that integrates a 2nd stage regulator into it and covers the diver’s entire face. From there, what dictates what Full Face Mask is right for you depends on your needs and wants as a diver. There are many options available, however the two most widely used Full Face Masks on the market are our Guardian Full Face Mask and Spectrum Full Face Masks.

Any diving in water that might be detrimental to a diver’s health is potentially alleviated. Combined with a proper drysuit, dry gloves and an attached latex hood, a diver can be afforded an extra level of protection from cold and/or contaminated water.

Traditional bite mouthpiece regulators offer little to no protection if a diver goes unconscious underwater. The Guardian and Spectrum Full Face Masks provides a breathable airspace, secured to the diver’s face that can afford an opportunity of survival.

Because our Full Face Masks have an “oral / nasal” pocket, a microphone can be mounted into the mask. This allows a diver to be able to articulate without interference from a mouthpiece. The Guardian and Spectrum have PTT buttons located on the right jaw of the mask.

Many find that diving a Full Face Mask is the next step of evolution in diving. The advantages are numerous including: ability to breathe through nose throughout dive, keeping a diver’s face warm and dry and the ability to communicate with other divers.

Guardian from Ocean Technology Systems (OTS)

Designed to meet the demanding needs of today’s Commercial/Professional Diver, it leverages the best features found on other FFMs with unique features designed by OTS.

Features of the Guardian FFM include:
    • Removable 2nd stage for easy cleaning and storage (can’t be used w/o mask)
    • Made of a one-piece, non-rigid silicone skirt combined with injection-molded, high-impact, glass-filled ABS plastic frame and regulator housing
    • A double face seal and slightly smaller oral nasal cavity to fit most faces
    • Equalization occurs through a nose block.
    • Air flow is directed up over the visor to eliminate fogging and through one-way valves in the oral nasal pocket to reduce CO2 retention.
    • 2nd stage comes off the right shoulder and uses a standard LP hose
    • Includes a communications port for easy installation of a Buddy Phone or ear/microphone assembly to connect an OTS Diver Communications Unit such as the Aquacom SSB-2010
    • Includes OTS’ Ambient Breathing Valve, Mask Bag, and LP hose

Spectrum from Ocean Technology Systems (OTS)

The Spectrum Full Face Mask provides a simple method to adapt your own regulator to the mask by eliminating the bite down mouthpiece and tying your own reg in with the rest of the FFM.

Tips and Education on Underwater Communications

Understanding how wireless communications work is important to the success of a good experience communicating. It’s important to know there are factors that can alter the performance of wireless communications. There are also easy tips that can be applied for optimum performance. Using the example of cell phone reception to a land line telephone, while both of these devices achieve the same goal, external factors can sometimes affect the quality of cell phone usage due to dropped calls or static interference that land lines do not experience. The below sections will explain how wireless underwater communications work, what can affect the communications, and some tips to make you the most successful at using them.

Buddy Phone from Ocean Technology Systems (OTS)

The Buddy Phone® D2 is a digital, micro-miniature, ultrasonic transceiver allowing communication between two or more scuba divers and / or surface stations. Using “Digital Signal Processing” (DSP) techniques, the Buddy Phone produces uncompromising speech clarity. The Buddy Phone® D2 differs from the standard Buddy Phone in that it is digitally controlled and has some fantastic features such as: a voice menu to guide you to adjust your Volume, change from Channel A to Channel B, or put the Buddy Phone in a continuous voice transmission mode.

Aquacom from Ocean Technology Systems (OTS)

The Aquacom® SSB-2010 transceiver is a 5 watt, multichannel single sideband underwater telephone designed with Professional Search & Rescue Teams in mind. The Aquacom® SSB-2010 can be configured to operate with virtually any style full face mask (FFM) or mouth mask. With the addition of a CDK-6 Surface Accessory Kit, the Aquacom® SSB-2010 is easily converted into a portable surface station.
Standard features are: Voice Operated Transmitter (VOX), Push-to-talk control (PTT), Squelch, 4 channels, Earphone volumes, Voice menu (the user can adjust the SSB-2010 underwater via the voice menu), removable transducer, and heavy duty design. This affordable system is tough, powerful, and a must for any serious Search & Rescue Team!

    Earphone and Microphone Assemblies

Earphone/Microphone Assemblies are designed to allow the user to connect either Hard-wire or Through-water communications to a helmet or full face mask (ffm). Due to the many styles of ffm on the market, there are a wide variety of combinations.

The configurations can be endless depending on the application. The listed configurations are the most commonly used.

Custom Earphone/Microphone (E/M) Assemblies can be manufactured upon request. However, off the shelf assemblies will be more readily available.

    Surface Stations

The SP-100D2 Surface Buddy Phone is newly designed. State-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing circuitry (DSP – known as ” Software Defined Radio”) has been incorporated ensuring great performance and clarity. The new DSP Squelch circuitry is the industry leader.

The SP-100D2 will operate with all single sideband acoustic underwater devices within range and on the same frequency. The user simply places the SP-100D2 Buddy Phone in a secure area, lowers the 35′ transducer cable in the water, turns the power on and talks via a hand-held microphone. All divers and/or other surface stations within range and the same frequency will receive the message. When any other persons within range and on the same frequency talks, the voice will be heard from the front panel speaker of the SP-100D2.

The SP-100D2 Buddy Phone is compact and operates on (8) AA Alkaline batteries, ensuring hours of fun. For those who require extreme long life, two battery packs (16 AA) batteries can be utilized. You can monitor and talk to divers while the action is happening. A must for all dive boats and/or dive operations.
