Mark grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL and was certified as a Junior Open Water dive in 1989 at the age of 13 in a class with his mom and dad. He was spoiled by the beauty of the Florida Keys where he did his first 100 dives. He finally branched out and has completed over 1000 dives including dives in our favorite local dive spot – Lake Travis.
After too many years, Mark became a PADI Divemaster in 2019. By this time, his wife and two young daughters had been certified to dive at Scubaland and he wanted to not only become a better diver but also wanted to be equipped to assist his family to dive safely.
Having grown up on the beach, anything ocean related is of interest to Mark and ocean conservation is a high priority to him. Specifically: reef conservation, shark conservation, fish conservation, mangrove conservation, etc.
His dream is to retire someday, live in Roatan, Honduras where you will be able to find him leading dives and fixing gear.
